Buddon Ness
A headland on the North Sea coast of Angus, Buddon Ness forms the southeasternmost extremity of Barry Links at the mouth of the Tay estuary to the south of Carnoustie and east of Broughty Ferry. A map of the east coast of Scotland compiled by John Marr in the 1680s shows the promontory of Botannais with a 'Small Light' near its tip. In 1884, because the entrance channel was altering with the slow movement of the sandbanks, the lower Buddon lighthouse tower was moved 49m (160 feet) to the north of its old site.
