Scotscalder Railway Station

A remote request stop on the Far North Line, Scotscalder Railway Station (Gael: Caladal nan Gall) is located 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Halkirk and 7½ miles (12 km) south of Thurso in the Caithness district of Highland Council Area. This station was opened in 1874 on what was the Sutherland & Caithness Railway. It is preceded by Altnabreac Railway Station, 8½ miles (14 km) to the southwest, and followed by Georgemas Junction, 4½ miles (7 km) to the east northeast. Operated by ScotRail, Scotscalder Station is unstaffed and was used by only 184 passengers in 2009-10. The station house is now a private residence.
