Dalmeny Station (Gael: Dùn Mheinidh) lies on the southern approach to the Forth Bridge and provides a railway service to the communities of South Queensferry, a half-mile (1 km) east southeast, and Dalmeny, a similar distance to the north northwest. It was opened by the former North British Railway Company in 1890. Now operated by ScotRail, Dalmeny Railway Station is staffed part-time and provides services on the Fife Circle Line to around 0.5 million passengers per annum (2015). It is preceded by Edinburgh Gateway Railway Station, 4 miles (6.5 km) southeast, and followed by North Queensferry, 2 miles (3 km) to the north northwest.
