Menstrie Castle

Menstrie Castle, in Menstrie (Clackmannanshire), was built in the late 16th Century and was the birthplace of Sir William Alexander (1567 - 1640), a scholar, poet and courtier who went on to found the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. The castle was saved from demolition by the actor Moultrie Kelsall who had it restored and converted into flats. Within the building there is a public display on the life and works of Sir William Alexander and about the Castle itself.
