Royal Lochnagar Distillery

The Royal Lochnagar Distillery is located at Easter Balmoral, to the south of Crathie, Aberdeenshire. It was originally built in 1826 by James Robertson, though it was rebuilt in 1845 by John Begg. The only Deeside Malt whisky, the distillery sits over the hill from the Royal Castle at Balmoral and on the mountain from which it takes its name. It gained its "Royal" prefix following a visit by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1848.
