Bute Museum

Bute Museum occupies a Classical-fronted building on Stuart Street in Rothesay, the principal town of the Isle of Bute, opposite Rothesay Castle. As well as an extensive collection of photographs highlighting Rothesay's past, there are exhibits on the natural history of the island, its geology, flora and fauna, and archaeological and historical items associated with the Firth of Clyde. Opened in 1905, this independent museum moved to purpose-built premises in 1926, and is run by the Bute Museum Trustees.
