Findlater Castle
Located a mile (1.5 km) to the northwest of the village of Sandend in Aberdeenshire, the ruins of Findlater Castle sit atop a 15m / 50 feet-high cliff, 2 miles (3 km) east of Cullen (Moray). Built by the Ogilvie family in 1455, it was besieged by Mary Queen of Scots in 1562, during the Gordon rebellion. The castle was abandoned in the 17th-century and left to ruin. All that remains are the three storey high ruins and a nearby doocot.
