West Pilton

Pilton is a district of northwest Edinburgh, which is located 2 miles (3 km) from the city centre. The district comprises two large public housing estates; namely East Pilton, built in the early 1930s, and West Pilton, begun in the late 1930s, but not completed until after World War II. The former was long-regarded as providing more of a community and a better quality of housing than the latter, which has been subject to major regeneration schemes from the mid-1980s.
