Edgelaw Reservoir

Situated a mile (1.5 km) west of Temple in Midlothian, and 10 miles (16 km) south southeast of Edinburgh, Edgelaw Reservoir opened in 1880 and is one of a network of reservoirs supplying that city with water. It was the work of James Leslie (1801-89). Retained by an earth embankment dam, it receives the Fullarton Water and casts off the Redside Burn, which is a tributary of the River South Esk. Now operated by Scottish Water, it covers an area of 17.6 ha (43 acres).
