Corn Exchange

The Corn Exchange is located on the south side of Court Street in Haddington, adjacent to the East Lothian County Buildings. Built in 1854, its principal purpose was the trading of grain. Designed by a local architect, Francis Farquharson, this single-storey building has a narrow pedimented facade, but extends far back from the road and features a massive timber roof, with top-lighting provided to the main hall.

Farmers met at the Corn Exchange each week and it was the location of many important civic functions. During both World Wars the Exchange provided quarters for troops. The building was B-listed for its historical interest in 1977.

Today, the building is used for concerts, ceilidhs and other social and community events.
