Tealing Doo'cot

The Tealing Doo'cot is located on the home farm in the village of Tealing (Angus), some 4 miles (6.5 km) north of Dundee. It was built in 1595 to house pigeons, which were an important source of meat. This is a fine example of a rectangular doo'cot, with an unusual pitched roof and crow-stepped gables. A lintel bears the monogram of Sir David Maxwell of Tealing, along with that of his wife, Helen.
