The Facade, Aberdeen

Located on Union Street, Aberdeen, the Facade is a curtain of granite built in 1829 by local architect John Smith (1781 - 1852). It is a striking architectural feature, comprising a central arched gateway and a colonnade of twelve Doric columns, separating the kirkyard of the historic 12th-century St. Nicholas' Church from the street. It was based on a similar screen in London's Hyde Park.
