Central Park

A stadium in the centre of Cowdenbeath in Fife, Central Park opened in 1917 and is now used for football and stock car racing, but greyhound racing and motorcycle speedway have also taken place here in the past. It has a capacity of 4309 people, although a record crowd of 25,586 watched a Scottish League Cup match between Cowdenbeath Football Club and Rangers in 1949. Between 1928 and 1965 greyhound racing took place on a track surrounding the football field. In 1965-66, this was briefly re-purposed for speedway. Since 1970 the track was used for stock car racing, hosting four world championships. The main stand was built in to the north in 1921, partially destroyed by fire in 1992. The remaining section was refurbished and a new stand opened in 1995.

Central Park is the home of Cowdenbeath Football Club, who began in Jubilee Park and then played at North End Park (1888 - 1917), before moving here.
