Dating in part from 1665, the Old Ship Inn is said to be the oldest public house in Perth. Situated in the Skinnergate, to the north of St. John's Kirk, the name originates because it is located close to Perth's original harbour, which lay at the end of the High Street. The red-sandstone facade is Victorian, with a prominent crow-stepped gable facing the street. Famous for hosting actors, musicians and farmers over the years, in 1848 the Inn was the favoured watering-hole for workers who had come to Perth to build the railway.
The first recorded owners were called Menzies, but it is now the property of Belhaven Brewery.
