Dawyck

An estate in the Scottish Borders, Dawyck lies near Stobo in the Tweed valley, 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Peebles. Tree planting by the Naesmyths of Dawyck in the mid-17th century included some of the first horse chestnuts, European larches and Lombardy poplars in Scotland. There are landscaped walks through the specialist garden established here by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh which includes the world's first Cryptogamic Sanctuary and Reserve of non-flowering plants.
