Fugla Ness Lighthouse

Located on a finger of land that forms the western side of Burra Voe, Fugla Ness Lighthouse lies a quarter-mile (0.4 km) west of the port of Burravoe on West Burra in Shetland. A light was first established here in 1893, built by David A. Stevenson, but this was rebuilt in 1936 as a white round tower, some 8m (26 feet) in height, by David A. & Charles Stevenson. The light is automated and flashes a pattern of white, red and green light, with a maximum range of 10 miles (16 km). The light guides boats into the harbour past the a number of rocks and reefs which lie amongst the Scalloway Islands.
