Earlsburn Wind Farm

Located in the Gargunnock Hills, Earlsburn Wind Farm was commissioned in 2007 and comprises 15 German-designed Nordex turbines, each with a power output of 2.5 MW, giving a total generation capacity of 37.5 MW. Lying to the north of the Carron Valley Reservoir and occupying to the slopes of Cringate Law, Hart Hill and other smaller summits to the north, the development is owned and operated by Falck Renewables. The Earlsburn Reservoirs lie to the east. A grid connection is via a 12½-mile (20-km) underground cable to a substation at Bonnybridge. A Brazilian worker died on site during construction and the turbine manufacturer was subsequently prosecuted. A northern extension incorporating nine further turbines with an additional capacity of 22.5 MW was approved in 2010.

The Copenhagen-based investment fund PensionDanmark took a 49% share in this wind farm in 2014.
