Greenock No.6 Reservoir

(Auxiliary Reservoir No.6)

The middle of a chain of small reservoirs on the slopes behind Greenock in Inverclyde, Greenock No.6 Reservoir (also known as Auxiliary Reservoir No.6) lies a quarter-mile (0.5 km) southwest of Overton. Impounded by earth embankments, this is one of six balancing reservoirs built by engineer Robert Thom (1774 - 1847) 1825-27 for the Shaws Water Company to maintain water levels in the Greenock Cut which provided power to industries in the town.
