Gryfe No.2 Reservoir

The smaller and lower of a pair of reservoirs on the course of the Gryfe Water in Inverclyde, Gryfe (or Gryffe) No.2 is situated 3 miles (5 km) south southeast of Greenock at a height of 173m (567 feet). Gryfe No.1 Reservoir is lies immediately to the west, with Loch Thom beyond. Opened in 1872, it is impounded by an earth embankment dam and has a surface area of 28.8 ha (71 acres). The reservoir is operated by Scottish Water and supports a recreational fishery for brown trout managed by Port Glasgow Angling Club.
