Inchgarth Nature Reserve

Comprising wetland next to Inchgarth Reservoir on the north bank of the River Dee, Inchgarth Nature Reserve lies a quarter-mile (0.4 km) southeast of Cults. Established in 1998 and extending to 14 ha (34.5 acres), this was the first nature reserve to be created by the Scottish Ornithologists' Club. Small pools of standing water attracting more than ninety species of bird, including rarities such as Little Egret, Barnacle Goose, Garganey, Avocet and Lesser Yellowlegs. The reserve is owned by Scottish Water but is now leased to the Scottish Ornithologists' Club and managed by their Grampian Branch.
