Linlithgow Bridge

Linlithgow Bridge is a long-established crossing over the River Avon on the border between West Lothian and Falkirk, on the western edge of a settlement of the same name. The modern bridge dates from 1960, but this replaced an earlier bridge of 1660, which was built by George Livingston, 3rd Earl of Linlithgow (1616- 90). Tolls were charged which benfitted Linlithgow Town Council. To the south the railway crosses the river on the Avon Viaduct.
