Christ Church

A Scottish Episcopalian church located on the south side of Kerse Lane in Falkirk, at its junction with Bellevue Street, Christ Church is the first church designed by Robert Rowand Anderson (1834 - 1921), completed in 1864. Its plain Gothic exterior hides a fine polychrome interior of brown and red glazed bricks, with oak dado and blue-painted ceiling with gold stars in the chancel. A wrought-iron screen within the chancel arch dates from 1897, the work of the Carron Ironworks, but was reduced in the 1960s. A south transept was added by the same architect in 1902. The organ is by Abbot & Smith of Leeds and was installed in 1896 and rebuilt in 1987. The stained glass includes work by the company of James Ballantine (1806-77).
