River Leven Bridge

(Leven Crossing)

The rather spectacular River Leven Bridge (or Leven Crossing) carries the B969 Western Distributor Road over the Leven and Riverside Park in Glenrothes (Fife). Completed in 1995, it is located ¾ mile (1.2 km) northwest of the town centre. It is 197.5m (648 feet) in length and comprises a curved reinforced concrete deck suspended from cables which fan out from a central A-frame support that is 77m (253 feet) in height. Built for the Glenrothes Development Corporation, the architect was Dundee-based Nicoll Russell Studios, working with Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner of Stuttgart (Germany), while the structural engineers were Babtie Group.
