Eastfield Cemetery

Located on Craighalbert Road, a half-mile (1 km) northwest of Cumbernauld town centre, Eastfield Cemetery opened in 1954, as a rural cemetery preceding the establishment of the New Town. Extending to 1.61 ha (4 acres), approximately 70 burials take place annually. The cemetery was extended to the south in 2008, doubling its size and extending its ability to take new burials until 2034. A Muslim section of 200 lairs was defined in 2010. The Arria statue and M80 motorway lies to the southeast, while Cumbernauld Community Park lies to the north.
