Carscreugh Wind Farm

Carscreugh Wind Farm extends to the southwest of the summit of Carscreugh Fell, 2¾ miles (4.5 km) northeast of Glenluce in Dumfries and Galloway. It comprises 18 Gamesa G52 turbines, each with a rotor diameter of 52m (171 feet), a maximum height to the blade tip of 70m (230 feet) and a power output of 850 kW. These are arranged in three rows of 8, 6 and 4 machines respectively, giving the farm a total generation capacity of 15.3 MW. Planned by the Spanish firm Gamesa Energia, their first Scottish development, and approved by the Scottish Government in March 2012, the wind farm was acquired by specialist investor and asset manager John Laing Plc in 2013, shortly before it was commissioned. Gamesa continue to be responsible for operations and maintenance.
