Kirkwynd Bridge

(Slitrig Bridge)

A single-arch stone bridge which crosses the Slitrig Water in Hawick (Scottish Borders), the Kirkwynd Bridge (locally known simply as the Slitrig Bridge) lies just to the south of the town centre. It was built in 1864 to link mill-workers' cottages on Slitrig Crescent with St. Mary's and Old Parish Church and was B-listed in 1977. This listing was downgraded to Category C in 2008. An Ordnance Survey benchmark is located at the crown of the bridge on the north parapet.
