(Cùil Dhùn Bheithe)

A railway station in S Fife, Cowdenbeath (Gael: Cùil Dhùn Bheithe) lies a quarter-mile (0.5 km) northeast of the town centre. Although Cowdenbeath was provided with a station by the Edinburgh & Northern Railway as early as 1848 on a line linking Dunfermline with Perth via Kinross, the present station was opened by North British Railway in 1890 on the what is now referred to as the Fife Circle Line. The old station closed in 1919 and the Kinross line was decommissioned in 1970.

Now operated by ScotRail, Cowdenbeath Station is staffed part-time and includes a modern flat-roofed station building, with a footbridge connecting the two platforms. In recent years it has seen a steady increase in passengers numbers, reaching 182,000 per annum in 2016. It is preceded by Dunfermline Queen Margaret Railway Station, 3¾ miles (6 km) to the southwest, and followed by Lochgelly, 2 miles (3 km) to the northeast.
