Crossmyloof Railway Station

(Crois MoLiubha)

A suburban railway station in Glasgow City, Crossmyloof (referred to in Gaelic as Crois MoLiubha) is situated on the Glasgow South Western Line, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) west southwest of Strathbungo and a similar distance north of Shawlands. This two-platform station opened in 1888 on the Glasgow, Barrhead & Kilmarnock Joint Railway. The station buildings were replaced with simple passenger shelters and the overbridge was replaced and new access ramps added in 2006. Now operated by ScotRail, Crossmyloof Railway Station is unstaffed and has seen a remarkable increase in passenger numbers from 436,124 per annum (2009-10) to 688,880 in 2016-17. This station is preceded by Glasgow Central, 2¼ miles (3.5 km) to the north northeast, and followed by Pollokshaws West Railway Station, a mile (1.5 km) to the southwest.
