Dumbarton Central Railway Station


(Dùn Breatann Meadhain)

The most significant of the three railway stations in Dumbarton (West Dunbartonshire), Dumbarton Central (Gael: Dùn Breatann Meadhain) is situated on the West Highland Line and North Clyde Lines. This station was opened in 1850 and was originally owned by the Caledonian & Dunbartonshire Junction Railway. It is preceded by Dumbarton East Railway Station, a half-mile (1 km) to the east southeast, and followed by Dalreoch, a quarter-mile (0.4 km) to the west. Operated by ScotRail, this station is staffed part-time and is used by around 750,000 passengers per annum (2015). The station buildings are A-listed.
