Garelochhead Railway Station

A railway station on the West Highland Line, Garelochhead (Gael: Ceann a’ Gheàrrloch) lies a quarter-mile (0.4 km) east southeast of the centre of the settlement of Garelochhead and 2¾ miles (4.5 km) north northwest of Shandon in Argyll and Bute. This station was opened in 1894 on the West Highland Railway. It comprises an island platform serving the single-track line and a passing loop. Operated by ScotRail, Garelochhead Station is unstaffed and is used by only 4706 passengers in 2009-10. It is preceded by Helensburgh Upper Railway Station, 6 miles (10 km) to the southeast, and followed by Arrochar & Tarbet, 9½ miles (15 km) to the north northeast.
