Insch Railway Station

(Innis)

A railway station in the Garioch district of Central Aberdeenshire, Insch (referred to as Innis in Gaelic) is situated on the Aberdeen-Inverness Line, on the edge of Insch, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) south of the centre. This two-platform station was opened by Great North of Scotland Railway in 1854 and has changed little over the years, with original buildings, a signal box and level-crossing. The ticket office is now home to the Insch Connection museum. Operated by ScotRail, Insch Railway Station is unstaffed. Passenger numbers have grown markedly between 2010 and 2015, from 82,706 to 122,404. It is preceded by Inverurie Railway Station, 10 miles (16 km) to the east southeast, and followed by Huntly, 9½ miles (15 km) to the northwest.
