Johnstone Railway Station

A busy railway station in Renfrewshire, Johnstone (referred to in Gaelic as Baile Iain) lies on the Ayrshire Coast Line, a quarter-mile (0.4 km) east southeast of the town centre and a mile (1.5 km) south of Linwood. It opened in 1840 on the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock & Ayr Railway. The station comprises two platforms, with a single-storey ticket office and a two-storey former station-master's house in red sandstone. Now operated by ScotRail, Johnstone Railway Station is staffed part-time and was used by more than 1.3 million passengers in 2016. There is an associated park-and-ride facility, with 282 car parking spaces. Johnstone is preceded by Milliken Park Railway Station, 3½ miles (5.5 km) to the south southeast, and followed by Paisley Gilmour Street, 3 miles (5 km) to the east northeast.
