Muir of Ord Railway Station (Gael: Am Blàr Dubh) is located on the Highland Railway in Easter Ross, at the centre of the village of Muir of Ord. It is operated by ScotRail and is unstaffed. This station was opened in 1862 on the former Inverness & Ross-shire Railway. The white-harled former ticket office and waiting room was erected in 1894, but the Station Hotel (behind) is earlier, dating from 1881. The track running through the station is double, with one of these tracks representing the only remaining passing loop on the single-track line between Inverness and Dingwall. This was once a junction, with branch to Fortrose, but this closed in 1960. Several active sidings remain at Muir of Ord and the station is used by more than 66,000 passengers per annum (2015). It is preceded by Beauly Railway Station, 2¾ miles (4.5 km) to the south, and followed by Conon Bridge, 3 miles (5 km) to the north northeast.
