Muirend Railway Station

Muirend Railway Station (referred to in Gaelic as Ceann an t-Slèibh) is situated on the Neilston Branch of the Cathcart Circle Line, a half-mile (1 km) south southwest of Cathcart (Glasgow City) and a mile (1.5 km) east northeast of Giffnock (East Renfrewshire). This station was constructed by Lanarkshire & Ayrshire Railway and opened in 1903. It comprises a pretty building, featuring a wide wooden canopy on both sides, serving an island platform. Operated by ScotRail, Muirend Railway Station is staffed part-time and is used by 390,710 passengers per annum (2016-17). It is preceded by Williamwood Railway Station, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the south southwest, and followed by Cathcart, a mile (1.5 km) to the northeast.
