Nitshill Railway Station


(Cnoc nan Cnòthan)

A suburban halt on the Glasgow South Western Line, Nitshill Railway Station (known in Gaelic as Cnoc nan Cnòthan ) is situated between Nitshill and South Nitshill, a half-mile (1 km) south southeast of Hurlet, in the extreme southwest of Glasgow City. The station opened in 1848 on the Glasgow, Barrhead & Neilston Direct Railway. It comprises two platforms, connected by a pedestrian overbridge, and utilitarian passenger shelters. Operated by ScotRail, Nitshill Railway Station is unstaffed and was used by 112,126 passengers in 2016-17, a remarkable increase from 61,116 in 2009-10. It is preceded by Priesthill & Darnley, a half-mile (1 km) to the east, and followed by Barrhead Railway Station, 1½ miles (2.5 km) to the west southwest.
