Wester Hailes Railway Station

A suburban railway halt on the West Coast Main Line, Wester Hailes Railway Station (known in Gaelic as Hailes an Iar) is located a half-mile (1 km) north of Juniper Green and a mile (1.5 km) south of Sighthill in the City of Edinburgh. This station was opened in 1987, comprises two platforms connected by a footbridge and provides local services between Edinburgh, Shotts and Glasgow Central Railway Station. Operated by ScotRail, Wester Hailes Railway Station is unstaffed. Passenger numbers grew consistently between 2010 and 2015; rising from 22,710 passengers per annum to 38,644. Wester Hailes is preceded by Kingsknowe Railway Station, a mile (1.5 km) to the east northeast, and followed by Curriehill, 1½ miles (2.5 km) to the southwest.
