Eskbank Railway Station

Eskbank Railway Station serves the Borders Railway in Midlothian and lies next to the Dalkeith Campus of Edinburgh College, a half-mile (0.8 km) south of the centre of Eskbank and a mile (1.8 km) south southwest of Dalkeith. Built by BAM Nuttall, it opened with the line in 2015 and comprises a solitary platform serving a single-track line. The first station here opened in 1847 but closed with the rest of the Waverley Line in 1969. Now operated by ScotRail, it was used by almost 130,000 passengers in its first year, rising to 274,770 (2016-17). The preceding station is Shawfair, located 2½ miles (4 km) to the north. Eskbank is followed by Newtongrange, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the south southeast.
