Edinburgh Tram Depot

Nestling in a hollow to the northwest of the Gogar roundabout in Edinburgh, a quarter-mile (0.4 km) west southwest of Edinburgh Gateway Railway Station and 5 miles (8 km) west of the city centre, the Edinburgh Tram Depot comprises secure stabling and servicing facilities for Edinburgh's fleet of CAF Urbos 3 tram vehicles, together with the tram control centre and administrative offices for Edinburgh Trams Ltd. It opened in 2014. The control room oversees tram operations, coordinating tram movements, signals, traffic lights, CCTV and staff. The depot also includes a large workshop, with an overhead crane allowing major repairs and wheel-replacement, and cleaning facilities, including a tram-wash. Next to the depot is a request-stop on the tram line for staff and to permit crew changes.
