A modest wind farm lying between Troweir Hill and Laggan Hill, 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Girvan in South Ayrshire, the Assel Valley Wind Farm is located just to the south of the smaller Tralorg Wind Farm. It comprises ten Nordex N90 wind turbines, with a height of 110m (360 feet) and a blade diameter of 90m (295 feet). Each is rated at 2.5 megawatts giving a total power output of 25 MW. The farm was developed by Falck Renewables and built by Nordex UK, becoming operational in 2016. The community has taken a £1 million stake in the development through a co-operative society and a community benefit fund contributes towards local projects.
