A public recreational space in Kilwinning (North Ayrshire), McGavin Park is located a quarter-mile (0.5 km) northwest of the town centre. The park comprises mown grass and mature trees, with a pavilion and children's play area. It once had a large pond (infilled), a crazy golf course and tennis courts (extant, but disused). The park opened in 1884 and was created with a bequest of £7000 from John McGavin (1814-81), a son of Kilwinning who had grown wealthy as a grain merchant in Glasgow.
