Novar Wind Farm

Located on the Novar Estate, 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Evanton and 4 miles (6 km) southwest of Ardross, the Novar Wind Farm covers an area of 300 ha (741 acres) on the slopes to the north of Glen Glass in Easter Ross. The farm cost £16 million to construct and began generation in 1997. It comprises 34 Danish turbines, each 35m (115 feet) in height and capable of generating 500 kW of power, giving a total generation capacity of 17 megawatts (MW).

The wind farm is owned and operated by National Wind Power, formed in 1991 and now a subsidiary of the German utility and engineering giant RWE AG, which has assets exceeding £19.5 billion and interests in the UK, USA, Hungary and Australia.

Ben Wyvis, a National Nature reserve and, at 1046m (3441 feet), a Munro, lies 6 miles (10 km) to the southwest.
