Craigmaddie Reservoir

One of group of three reservoirs on the edge of Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire, Craigmaddie lies immediately to the east of Mugdock Reservoir, a half-mile (1 km) northeast of the town centre. Retained by a long earth embankment and covering an area of 39 ha (96 acres), it opened in 1896 as an extension to the Loch Katrine water scheme, which supplies drinking-water to Glasgow. Today, it is operated by Scottish Water.
