Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education

An outdoor sports and pursuits centre owned by the City of Edinburgh Council, Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education is located to the southeast of Feshiebridge, 1¼ miles (2 km) east of Loch Insh in Badenoch. Opened by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1970, the centre comprises a main building and a collection of smaller lodges, accommodating 125 people in total. It offers residential courses including watersports, winter sports, hill-walking, rock climbing, archery orienteering and environmental studies, primarily targeted at schools and community education groups within Edinburgh. The centre also offers facilities to complete the Duke of Edinburgh's award, together with corporate team-building courses.

The centre was given to the citizens of Edinburgh by George Boyd Anderson, who had made his fortune as a rubber-planter in Malaysia. It was here that a party of teenagers were based who died during a mountain navigation exercise in 1971, which became known as the Cairngorm Disaster.
