A residential suburb of the City of Dundee, lying adjacent to its eastern border with Angus at Monifieth and to the east of Broughty Ferry, Barnhill is constrained by the Dichty Water to the northeast. Barnhill Primary School lies on Falkland Crescent, with Gillies Park immediately to the west and the sizeable Barnhill Cemetery beyond. Barnhill Rock Garden has been developed since 1955 on part of a former golf links to the east of Broughty Ferry Beach.
