Inverarity is a parish, which lies in Angus Council Area, some 5 miles (8 km) south of Forfar and 8 miles (13 km) southeast of Kirriemuir in Angus.
It is located in the old county of Forfarshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.
The parish has an area of 44.7 sq. km (17.2 sq. miles). Inverarity has 8 neighbouring parishes; namely Carmyllie, Dunnichen, Forfar, Glamis, Kinnettles, Monikie, Murroes and Tealing. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
