Dunbarney is a small parish, which lies on the River Earn in Perth and Kinross Council Area, some 4 miles (6 km) south of Perth in Perth and Kinross and 7 miles (11 km) west of Newburgh in Fife.
It is located in the old county of Perthshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.
The parish has an area of 9.6 sq. km (3.7 sq. miles). Dunbarney has 5 neighbouring parishes; namely Abernethy, Dron, Forgandenny, Perth and Rhynd. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
