Parish of NewtonNewton is a small parish, which lies in Midlothian Council Area, some 3 miles (5 km) north of Bonnyrigg in Midlothian and 5 miles (7 km) southeast of Edinburgh in the City of Edinburgh.
It is located in the old county of Midlothian, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.
The parish has an area of 7.6 sq. km (2.9 sq. miles). Newton has Dalkeith, Edinburgh and Inveresk as its neighbouring parishes.
