Painter. Born in Edinburgh, the son of James Lorimer (1818-90) a Professor of Law and brother of noted architect Sir Robert Lorimer (1864 - 1929). Lorimer trained at the Royal Scottish Academy under landscape painter William McTaggart (1835 - 1910). His subjects were varied; his early works are still-life, while later he painted scenes of everyday life.
His paintings include The Ordination of Elders in a Scottish Kirk, which hangs in the National Gallery for Scotland, A Peaceful Art and Kellie Castle Garden, which was the family home and had been laid out by his brother Sir Robert, the latter being sold at auction in 2000 for £32,900.
