Fiddler and composer. Born in Esha Ness (Shetland), Anderson established a reputation for promoting the distinctive Shetland fiddling style. He was also a prolific composer, writing more than 500 tunes in the traditional style. He formed an occasional musical partnership with Peerie Willie Johnston (1920 - 2007). Anderson was awarded an MBE in 1977. In 1980, he donated his large collection of vernacular recordings to the University of Stirling. Anderson died in Montfield Hospital, Lerwick, and was buried at Esha Ness.
