Marie Loftus


1857 - 1940

Music-hall entertainer. Born in Glasgow of an Irish family, Loftus appeared on the stage as a dancer from an early age. By the time she was twenty she was performing in London as well as Glasgow and by the 1890s she was touring internationally and earning a fortune. Known for her good looks, she was the pin-up girl of her day.
